Mrs Geall's
White Aluminium Windows & Solid Roof Extension
Giving a traditional 1930’s property a sympathetic upgrade.
The old leaded windows lacked contemporary character, something that our slimframe aluminium windows have in spades.
Mrs Geall’s house doesn’t look much different to how it looked when it was first built in the 1930’s. In recent years, her old leaded windows had become a recurring problem, with leaks emerging due to how difficult it was to clean them properly. Mrs Geall also worried that further problems may transpire further down the line because of the windows being mullioned.
Part of Mrs Geall’s brief to our team was that she wanted any replacement windows to entice in light. Our suggested solution was slimframe aluminium windows from our Eclipse collection, which offer maximum glazing. They also need the bare minimum of maintenance, being incredibly easy to clean. This would save her a huge amount of money on annual maintenance costs.
An enthusiastic painter, Mrs Geall also had the idea of converting her extension into a studio where she could do her watercolours. For that to be achievable, it needed a tiled roof to keep the space well insulated. However, it still has many glazed facets, assuring her of a scenic view as she paints away.
Far less noise from the outdoors gets into the house after the installation of the new windows. Mrs Geall also finds the windows far easier to open and close, and doesn’t have the trepidation that she had when doing the same with her old leaded windows, worrying that they would fall out. Her heating bills are much cheaper than they used to be, and a year on from fitting the windows, we re-visited her house to check that they remain in good working order, which they do.
