It’s your front door, so the finishing touches are down to you. Origin gives you great options to select from. Don’t worry though, you’re not on your own, the 5 Star design team are here to walk you through every stage, so you get the perfect Origin front door for you.

Choose your threshold carefully.

Origin single and twin French style Front doors come in; weathered, non-weathered and mobility thresholds. A weathered threshold creates a weatherproof barrier between your front door and the outside elements, by sealing your front door against an upstand lip of just 10mm.

It is possible in most installations to sink this threshold into the ground, minimalizing the trip hazards while ensuring halls are not cold and draughty. For an internal secondary front door, not severe weather rated, a non-weathered threshold maybe the solution. The not severe weather rated Origin mobility threshold is just 20mm high for easy wheelchair access or for those who use walking aids.

Front door handles and bars.

Origin handles, knobs and bars are available in a choice of finishes, styles and colours. If you have young children, Stainless-steel furniture is a great choice because it requires less maintenance, it’s durable and is easy to clean. Origin even let you consider having no handle, knob or bar on the outside, ultimate security and you control the key.

Please be aware, door furniture choices change how your door opens, when it’s locked and when it’s not, how it locks and unlocks. Please do talk to a 5 Star designer about how your door will operate and what is important to you. Ultimately the choice is yours.

The final finishing touches

A stunning Origin front door deserves lovely furniture – including a stainless-steel Cylinder pull (Escutcheon pull handle), the Affinity vertical slim-line knocker or Affinity urn knocker, both include a spyhole and come in a range of finishes. You can even choose an Origin letterbox if desired.

Finally, Origins security restrictors, solid locking bars which allow you to open your door enough to see who is visiting. There really isn’t anything Origin haven’t considered.

Origin Glass Porch and Back doors...

Origin front porch back doors normally come in clear or frosted glass and are available with or without a mid‑rail. Door Glass must be toughened for building and FENSA regulations but can be upgraded to laminate for extra security. If you choose a mid-rail then splitting the mid-rail height is up to you, usually it’s 50:50 or 60:40.

If a mid‑rail is selected then you can have glass over glass or glass over a panel, in the lower section, ideal if fitting a dog or cat flap (though either can be fitted into a glass panel if preferred).
