Mr & Mrs Armstrong-Smith contacted 5 Star Windows & Conservatories not long after they had moved from Surrey to take up residence in a new house, located in Hallow, about 2 miles north-west of Worcester. The unrealised potential of the property was one of their principal reasons for buying it and one of their thoughts to bring it out was to expand the building with some form of extension.
We sat down with the pair and during our discussions they also communicated a wish to have easy access to their garden and patio area. Our suggestion was to integrate an orangery, complete with sliding doors from our Extreme range.
Two lantern roofs
They accepted the idea, however, as it would be a flat roof extension to fit in with the fabric of the house, we informed them that it would also benefit from having not one, but two lanterns, so that light would flood into the entire space.
Because they wanted the orangery to fulfil a variety of functions and be part-kitchen, part-dining room and part-living area, the Ultrasky Roof Lantern seemed the best option. As a long-time Ultra Installer, we know how good its slim and minimalist design is for creating a sense of interior space.
Never in their wildest dreams
Mr & Mrs Armstrong-Smith never envision having an orangery quite as spectacular as this. Finished in Rosewood to match the existing windows on the property, itโs a multi-functional space where cooking and relaxing both go hand in hand, and they can indulge in the most appealing views.
It wouldnโt come as any surprise if the couple chose not to relocate again for the foreseeable, perhaps even for the lifespan of the orangery (20 years minimum), as itโd be difficult to leave it behind. The only time they donโt mind parting with the space is when they make a break for the garden with a graceful slide of the doors.
